If you’re looking for an easy, low-maintenance pretty ground cover, look no further than creeping phlox. This perennial plant blooms in early spring and is both hardy and beautiful! It’s five-pointed-star flowers bloom in pastel shades of white, lavender, red, pink, or bluish-purple. Here's where you can plant it (almost anywhere!) and how to care for it (super easy!):

Where to Plant Creeping Phlox

True to its name, creeping phlox creeps, so it’s perfect for planting on rock walls, among pavers, or in flower boxes — anywhere you’d like to see a draping plant. And it’s a great ground cover, so you can plant it in areas where you’d like to prevent soil erosion, like steep banks.

How to Care for Creeping Phlox

Creeping Phlox grows best in full sun with moist, well-drained soil, but it will also survive in partial shade.

Apply fertilizer in early spring, and if the weather gets too hot and dry, give it some water. You can cut it back after it flowers to promote a second bloom, and again in late winter so it will produce younger stems the following spring.

Creeping phlox will spread easily and quickly. If you decide you’d like a little less of it, just dig it up, ensuring that you preserve the root ball, then slice the root ball in half. Replant half in the original hole and the other half wherever you’d like!
