Extend indoor spaces to the outdoors for easily accessible year-round appeal—including a custom shade structure to accommodate outdoor dining, w/ operable ceiling louvers, built-in grill, lighting & ceiling fan—All designed to also keep longer views from the adjacent sunroom open to the larger back yard & forested edges beyond. Also, a separate patio area to showcase a gorgeous contemporary fire table, and connecting pathways, accent plantings & lighting.

Notable Design Elements/Intents

Use a compact design footprint to minimize the need for retaining walls set into the existing back yard uphill slope, and provide easy access to the new outdoor dining & ‘fire patio’ areas, yet still fit in all the ‘wish list’ elements. The owners are experienced designers & project managers themselves, so collaboration on design details was important! Plantings & landscape lighting were designed to be subtle while still providing maximum boost for daytime to nighttime enjoyment. The resulting landscape enhancements truly elevate the property, both as viewed from the kitchen & sunroom AND while spending much more time appreciating the new open air luxuries!
